Frequently asked questions

What people ask before starting, and while using the product.

The product

What is CloudOps Move2Cloud?

Move2Cloud's multi-cloud assistant: you ask about your cloud accounts in plain language, it reads the account to answer, and it prepares the changes you request as a plan that you confirm.

Which cloud providers are supported?

AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, and the sovereign clouds OVHcloud, Scalingo and Scaleway. Each conversation is bound to one account of one provider.

Can the assistant change my infrastructure on its own?

No. Reads run at once, but every change is first shown as a plan, with its steps and its level of risk, and runs only after you confirm it. The assistant then reads the result again and says what really happened.

Can I keep the questions I ask often?

Yes, in Questions: the team's library, kept by the administrators and shared with every member, and your own questions. The assistant can also suggest some for a cloud account, from what it really holds; you keep those you want and change them as you wish. Ask opens a new conversation on the right account with the question written, ready to send. Pin three of them to find them in your menu, under Questions.

In which languages is the product available?

In French and in English. Signed in, the console takes the language of your Move2Cloud account; before that, the one of your browser. Settings → Preferences, or the flags, change it. You can ask your questions in the language you prefer.

Cloud accounts

How does the assistant get access to my cloud?

Through rights you grant and can withdraw at any time, never a password of yours.

  • AWS: a role created by a CloudFormation stack in your account, with the policies you choose.
  • Azure: the CloudOps Move2Cloud application, authorised in your directory, with the roles you deploy.
  • Google Cloud: a service account Move2Cloud keeps for you, to which you give roles on your project. No key is created.
  • OVHcloud: API keys limited to your Public Cloud project.
  • Scalingo: an API token you create for Move2Cloud.
  • Scaleway: an API key of an application you create, with a policy limited to the project.
Who connects the cloud accounts?

An administrator of your organisation, from Settings → Cloud Accounts. An account is then used by the whole team, or kept to its administrators. The documentation gives the steps for each provider.

Can I choose which providers appear in the console?

Yes. At the top of Settings → Cloud Accounts, select the providers you work with: only those appear in the list of accounts and in the conversation.

Teams

Can I work with colleagues?

Yes, with the Pro and Entreprise plans. An administrator invites people by e-mail from Settings → Team and gives each a role.

  • Reader: asks questions; no change is prepared or run.
  • Operator: has changes prepared and runs them, or has them approved when the organisation asks for it.
  • Administrator: also manages the team and its cloud accounts.
I belong to several organisations. How do I choose?

After signing in you are asked which organisation to work in. The profile menu, at the bottom of the sidebar, names it and lets you switch. Cloud accounts, conversations, your role and the token allowance are those of the organisation chosen.

Can a change wait for an administrator's approval?

Yes. In Settings → Team, an administrator chooses which changes of an operator wait: none, those that remove something, or every change. The administrators are told at once; one of them reads the plan in Approvals and approves it, which runs it, or refuses it with a reason. Without an answer within 24 hours, the request expires and nothing runs. An administrator's own changes run at once.

Are conversations shared with my team?

No. What a team shares is its cloud accounts and the rules on who may do what. Your conversations stay yours.

Plans and payment

What do the plans include?

Standard (29 €, 1 member, 2 cloud accounts, 3M tokens a month), Pro (99 €, 5 members, 10 accounts, 15M tokens) and Entreprise (399 €, 10 members then 25 € each, 20 accounts, 50M tokens). Prices exclude tax and are per month. The Plans page compares them row by row.

Is there a trial?

Yes: 14 days with 500k tokens, for 1 member and two cloud accounts. It is opened by Move2Cloud on request, from the contact page.

What is a token, and what happens when my allowance is used up?

Tokens measure the work of the assistant: what it reads and what it writes to answer. The allowance of your plan is counted per calendar month for the whole team; Settings → Subscription shows what has been used. Once it is used up, questions are refused until the next month or until Move2Cloud tops it up.

How do I change plan?

An administrator asks for another plan from Settings → Subscription. Move2Cloud applies it and confirms the price: nothing changes and nothing is billed before that confirmation.

How are invoices paid?

Invoices are listed in Settings → Subscription. The owner of the organisation can register a bank card, a SEPA direct debit or a PayPal account: later invoices are then collected on their due date, after a notice at least 3 days before. Payment is handled by a European provider; Move2Cloud keeps neither card number nor IBAN.

Support and your data

How do I reach the support?

Signed in, write a request from Settings → Support, or Contact support at the bottom of every screen. You can join files and screenshots; the answer comes in the request, with an e-mail and a notice in the console.

How do I keep a record of an intervention?

From History, download the conversation as PDF or Markdown: a copy is kept 7 days in Settings → My generated files. To keep all of them, export them as a zip from Settings → My data. The administrators of the organisation also find each change run in Settings → Journal, and export it as CSV or PDF for an audit.

Who can see the journal of the activity?

The administrators of the organisation. It shows the changes run on its cloud accounts and counts the questions asked, without showing the content of the conversations.

How do I download my data or delete my account?

From Settings → My data: download everything kept about you as one file, export all your conversations as PDF or Markdown in a zip (a notification tells you when it is ready, and an e-mail if you ask for it), or delete your account. The owner of an organisation that has other members, or a running plan, asks the support first.

How am I told of what happens?

By the bell at the top right of every screen: a change to approve or the answer to one, an export ready, the tokens of the month, the end of a trial, a payment, an answer from support, a new publication in Cloud Intel. Each notification has a level: important, medium or info. The Notifications page keeps them 90 days.

  • Approvals, tokens, subscription, payments and support also come by e-mail: untick the subjects you do not want by e-mail in Settings → Preferences.
  • Your browser can also say them when the console is open in another tab: turn it on in the same place.
What is the First steps guide?

A guide in the corner of the screens for your first days: the organisation's details and a plan, a cloud account, a first question, then an export, the generated files, Cloud Intel and the team. Each step is ticked as soon as it is done. Hide it at any time: it comes back from Help → First steps in the profile menu, or from Settings → Preferences once finished.

Can I delete a support request?

Yes: Delete the request, at the bottom of a request, removes it from your list with its messages and files. Move2Cloud support keeps it.

Security and sovereignty

Where are the application and my data hosted?

In France, with French and European providers: the application, its databases and their backups, the files attached to conversations and the e-mails. Invoicing and payment stay in Europe.

What does Move2Cloud keep on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud?

Only what connects your account: on AWS, the CloudFormation template that creates the role and the technical identity that uses it; on Azure, the application you authorise in your directory; on Google Cloud, in Move2Cloud's own project, the service account you give roles to. No client data is stored on these clouds.

Can I sign in with my Google or Microsoft account?

Yes: Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft on the sign-in page. Move2Cloud only receives your name and e-mail address, never your password. An existing account with the same address is attached once you confirm it, and the authenticator app is still asked.

Why was I signed out?

After 10 minutes without activity in the console, in any of its tabs, you are signed out to protect your cloud accounts. Settings → Security lists the devices signed in.

How are my cloud credentials protected?

They are encrypted before being saved and are never shown again, not even to you. Removing a cloud account deletes them. Two-step sign-in is required for every user.
